Since the Jays pounded the fuck out of Bronson "Cown Shoes" Arroyo, I have decided to document the rest of the night's jays activity.
Toronto Blue Jays vs Cincinnati Reds
Jays 8 - Reds 2
The Jays got to Arroyo early by hitting 3 HR and scoring 5 runs after the first 5 batters were finished. And that is pretty much were the game ended.
The box-score:

Almost Mid-Point Jays Stuff!!!11!!!
So, the Jays are 71 games into the season and are 1 game back of a playoff spot. Pretty nails.
With 10 games to go till the mid point of the season, I thought I would lay out some ideas for roster construction the rest of the way.
The current roster bothers me very much right now.
Kevin Millar is hitting terribly.
John McDonald is useless.
They already did 1 thing I was hoping for, and that is calling up Russ Adams. But it was for Inglett, when it should have been for the recently traded (in my dream world) Johnny Mac.
Randy Ruiz should be up for Millar. No doubt about it. Ruiz is a better hitter, period. Millar may bring intangibles, but Ruiz can actually hit.
And if Russ Adams can play SS even remotley competant, then McDonald can be cut loose and an actual majo league hiter can be called up, preferably Brett Harper, but most likely David Delucci.
And maybe Kyle Phillips can come up at some point and be a back-up catcher and corner infielder instead of Jose Bautista (who is hitting well, but just doesn't do enough for me personally).
As far as the pitching goes, there is not much to complain about due to injuries, but I have a big problem with Brad Mills getting called up.
Fabio Castro would have been a much better choice, as he actually pitched well enough in the minors to deserve it. Even David Purcey has pitched well enough to deserve another shot over Mills.
To put it nicely, Brad Mills is Jamie Moyer. Not Moyer when he was 24. Moyer, at 45. Mills throws about 86 MPH with a looping curve and scares the fuck out of me.
I have no problem with Cecil being in the majors, as his stuff can actually get guys out and miss some bats. The rotation is weakened at the moment with Halladay on the shelf, but Richmond, Romero, Cecil, and Tallet should be the other 4 in the rotation with Doc when he gets back.
Brandon League is ridiculously scary to watch and Dirk Hayhurst just isn't good enough to pitch in the major leagues, but until guys start coming back from injury these frightening arms will remain.
Oh well....I will look forward to the 81 game mark where I can double the stats and get the exact totals of the statistics that we will see.
Peace.

Jays News From The Last Week Or So
Transactions from the last week or so:
Brian Wolfe was demoted in favour of Dirk Hayhurst, who has been good since getting the call to pitch in low leverage situations.
Casey Janssen has hit the DL with a shoulder strain and Brad Mills is getting the call to start in his place.
The Jays also signed David Delucci (best known for being shitty) to a minor league deal. He should get the call after they get back from the road games in interleague. He has been pretty decent so far in AAA, but he is no Brett Harper.
Scotty Downs tweaked something running out a grounder, and he may hit the DL.
Roy Halladay suffered a groin strain and could miss 2 starts. I'd kiss it to make it better if I could.
The Draft:
I'm not an expert by any means on high school players and college guys, but I love the draft.
The Jays look to have had a good draft with the selection of a college starter in the 1st and suplemental rounds. RH 1st rounder Stephen Jenkins could come quickly if he can pitch well, while Canadian supplemental pick James Paxton, lefty, should take longer. His stuff is better, with a mid to high 90's heater, is better than most in the organization.
I hate the 3rd round pick of high school lefty and Canadian Jake Elopoulos. I looks like a stretch pick from what I've read and seems like a "Canadian pick."
I am also very happy with RHP Jake Barrett out of high school and Jacob Marisnick, a high school OF. Both look like steals who had at least 2nd round talent.
My 2 favourite picks though, are 2B Ryan Schimpf and SS Ryan Goins. Both have incredible college stats and could move quickly through the system.
It is still too early to tell if any of these guys can crack the Jays top 10 list next year, but I am anxious for the short season teams to start up.

Ross Buckwalter (on DL)
Tom Collins
Zach Dials
Alan Farina (on DL)
Dumas Garcia
Kyle Ginley (on DL)
Andrew Liebel
Trystan Magnuson
Ryan Page
Celson Polanco
Kenny Rodriguez
Marcus Walden (on DL)
Catchers:
Michael Barrett (on rehab assignment)
CJ Ebarb
Jon Jaspe
Matt Liuzza
Infielders:
3B - Kevin Ahrens
2B - Raul Barron
1B - Jesus Gonzalez
SS - Justin Jackson
1B - Manny Rodriguez
2B - John Tolisano
Outfielders:
Adam Loewen
Darin Mastroianni
Sean Shoffit
Moises Sierra
Eric Thames
This team is full of really solid prospects, including the '07 draft class of Jackson, Ahrens, and Tolisano.
The Good:
Eric Thames. .319/.396/.467/.863. Thames is becoming one of my favourite prospects, and with good reason. His power is still coming along, so there could still be more improvement.
Darin Mastroianni: .318/.422/.381/.803. He has 31 stolen bases and has been an amazing lead off hitter. Another prospect I am starting to get excited about.
Moises Sierra: .303/.388/.441/.829. Sierra was an international free agent and is starting to become a legit prospect.
There is not alot of power on this team, with Jesus Gonzalez leading the team with 6 HR.
The Offensive Prospects:
John Tolisano: .247/.322/.401/.723 with 5 HR. Has also struggled mightily defensively, leading to speculation that he will end up in LF.
Kevin Ahrens: .222/.286/.303/.588. Terrible. He is still really young, but eventually he has to start hitting. I could probably put up a better line at that level.
Justin Jackson: .242/.355/.309/.664 with 11 SB. Jackson has developed a great eye it seems. If he can just start maximizing his hits with some more doubles to increase his slugging percentage.
Adam Loewen: .213/.309/.291/.599. Eventually, Loewen should start hitting with power. He just needs a full season to adjust to playing the field every day.
The Pitching:
The Good:
Kenny Rodriguez: 1.86 ERA in 10 games -9 starts- (48.1 IP) , with a 1.14 WHIP.
Tim Collins: 2.97 ERA in 21 games (36.1 IP), with a 1.10 WHIP and 54 Ks.
Trystan Magnuson: 3.31 ERA in 21 games (35.1 IP), with a 1.39 WHIP.
Robert Bell: 3.18 ERA in 24 games (28.1 IP), with a .95 WHIP.
Dumas Garcia: 2.18 ERA in 16 games -1 start- (20.2 IP), with a .92 WHIP.
Leon Boyd: 1.54 ERA in 8 games (11.2 IP), with a 1.63 WHIP for "Dutch Clutch."
Zach Dials: 1.64 ERA in 9 games (11 IP), with a .91 WHIP and 4 saves.
The Mediocre/Disappointing:
Andrew Liebel: 4.63 ERA in 13 starts (72 IP) with a 1-8 record. His peripherals are pretty good.
Alan Farina: 11.17 ERA in 4 games -2 starts- in 9.2 IP before his injury. I don't know why he was starting, as he a solid relief prospect.

AA - New Hampshire Fisher Cats
Now, I will take a look at the AA team.
Pitchers:
Randy Boone
Edward Buzachero
Edgar Estanga
Reider Gonzalez
Rommie Lewis
Brandon Magee
Adrian Martin
Marty McLeary (on DL)
Luiz Perez
Marc Rzepczynski
Nate Starner
Sean Stidfole
Catcher:
Brian Jeroloman
Al Quintana
Infielders:
1B David Cooper
1B Brian Dopirak
2B/3B Brad Emaus
3B Chris Gutierrez
3B Bryan Kervin
SS Luiz Sanchez
Outfielders:
Adam Calderone
Todd Donovan
Nick Gorneault
Cody Haerther
Offensive Standouts:
Brian Dopirak is the big offensive force so far this season. He is hitting .292/.360/.554/.914 with 13 HR and 44 RsBI. Clearly, he is ready for AAA, and I think Randy Ruiz should be released to make room.
Adam Calderone is another offensive leader. He is hitting .271/.325/.495/.820 with 8 HR and 33 RsBI.
The prospects:
Brad Emaus forced himself onto the rader with a great spring. Yes, that's right. Brad Emaus raped the spring. OK...Emaus is having a decent season, hitting .254/.317/.417/.734 with 6 HR, 17 doubles, and 35 RsBI.
David Cooper has had a pretty unimpressive season. He is hitting .239/.319/.347/.666 with 18 extra base hits. His power has not developed yet, so hopefully he can find his stroke before 2011 (when Overbay leaves and Cooper steps in).
Pitching Stand-outs:
Ray Gonzalez has been stellar, with a 3.04 ERA in 73.1 IP and a 1.15 WHIP. He has only given up 66 hits. He doesn't strike out many (49), but keeps his walks down (18).
Marc Rzepczynski has also been very good, with a 3.10 ERA in 69.2 IP with a 1.58 WHIP. He gives up a bunch of hits (75) and walks wuite a few (35), but has a load of strikeouts (80).
Quality bullpen arms have been Ed Buzachero (1.04 ERA), Edgar Estanga (2.63 ERA), and Adrian Martin (2.33 ERA).

Another Look At The Minor Leagues
A while back, I posted about the guys at each minor league level.
Well, I have decided that I am going to take another look at each Minor League team and evaluate the guys to look out for.
I am going to start with the Triple A team, the Las Vegas 51's
Roster
Pitchers:
Jeremy Accardo
Jonah Bayliss
TJ Beam
Bryan Bullington
Brian Burres
Fabio Castro
Brett Cecil
Wade Miller (on DL)
Brad Mills
Bill Murphy
David Purcey
Davis Romero
Brian Wolfe
Catchers:
Luis Hurtado
Matt Liuzza
Kyle Phillips (also plays 3B)
JP Arencibia (on DL, I think)
Infielders:
3B Scott Campbell (on DL)
2B Howie Clark
2B/SS Jon Diaz
1B Brett Harper
3B Kevin Howard
1B Randy Ruiz
SS Angel Sanchez
Outfielders:
Russ Adams (on DL)
Buck Coates
Jason Lane
Aaron Matthews
Travis Snider (on DL)
Currently, the AAA offensive stand-outs are:
Kyle Phillips .353/.421/.491/.912 in 116 AB. Very impressive from a non-prospect at a young age. I'm beginning to think there is something here with this kid.
Buck Coates .326/.382/.445/.826 in 227 AB. More power than I expected out of Coates, but most of it is doubles, which is reasonable to expect with his line-drive ability and speed. Is still kind of young and I think could help a lot more than McDonald on the Jays bench. Has 17 SB as well.
Howie Clark .308/.358/.396/.755 in 159 AB. Pretty much what I would except out of Clark in AAA. Could be a useful bench guy for the Jays, given his experience and versitility.
Randy Ruiz .302/.378/.511/.899 in 225 AB. Why the Jays signed Millar in the off-season when they had a better option in Ruiz is still a mystery to me. I still have hope that Ruiz will come up at some point and help the Big Club.
The prospects on the AAA team:
JP Arencibia .236/.296/.447/.744 in 199 AB. Has shown the power we all love, and his on base skills still kind of stink, but they are actually improving over last season's almost non exsistant walking. Is currently injured.
Scott Campbell .229/.327/.281/.609 in 96 AB. Has shown almost no power at all, which makes me think that he will end up a Joe Inglett type, who slaps the ball around and hits around .300 with a few doubles/triples mixed in. He is currently injured.
Travis Snider .258/.325/.290/.614 in 31 AB. Is currently side-lined with a back issue, so his stats are pretty meaningless in a tiny AAA sample size.
The good pitching:
Fabio Castro, acquired last season for Matt Stairs, has been fantastic. First dominating AA, now doing the same in AAA. In 8 starts with Vegas, he has a 2.15 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP.
Besides some good, but not great, relief pitching (Accardo, Bayliss, Bullington, Wolfe) the pitching has been pretty lame.
The Prospects:
Brad Mills. I know wins-losses are a terrible judge. I know that. But, Mills is 1-7, and has not shown any kind of consistancy. His 4.22 ERA is not terrible, and he is striking out almost 1 per inning. I expected more out of Mills.
Brett Cecil. Cecil was decent before the call-up, where he was pretty excellent, save for his Boston start. In AAA, he has a 5.91 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. The rest of his numbers are pretty generic and decent. I expected much more out of Cecil.
Tomorrow, I will look at the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in AA.

Ultimate Fighter Thoughts
With the announcement that Kimbo Slice has been named a member of the cast of TUF 10, I got to thinking.
This must be a pretty big season for TUF, and apparantly it is all heavyweights. Which begs the question: who else could be on the show?
Now it seems, anyone could be a member. Kimbo is the last person I would have expected to come into the UFC, and on TUF? Even further from my mind.
What bout Bobby Lashley, the former WWE champion and current TNA wrestler, who is 3-0 in MMA and has a mega clash with Bobb Sapp scheduled soon? Could he be a member of the cast as well? Why not?
Lashley is essentially a black Brock Lesnar, prompting many in the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community, to which I am a former member) to refer to him as "Choc Lesnar" or even "Blackberg" which a more a Goldberg reference.
Lashley is 32 years old. Lesnar is 31.
Lashley won 3 amateur wrestling championships at Missouri Valley College and 2 NAIA championships, along with being a 2 time Armed Forces champion. Lesnar was a junior college champion, a 3 time winner of North Dakota's annual Bison tournament, an NCAA Division 1 champion, and a Big Ten conference champion.
As WWE wrestlers, both were most improved wrestler of the year named by Pro Wrestling Illustrated and both were in the top 10 at certain points in their pro careers.
While we are on the subject of pro wrestling, what about Sean O'Haire, former WCW and briefly WWE wrestler? He is a 6'6'' 260 LB beast. He is 3-2 in his MMA career, winning his most recent 2 fights. Could he be a potential cast member? He is only 28 years old and is an amazing athlete, so I don;t see why he couldn't be successful.

Kimbo Slice on TUF 10
In some breaking news, pretty exciting actually, Kimbo Slice has agreed to be a contestant on the 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC's reality show.
I'm fucking pumped. I love TUF, and am looking forward to see if Kimbo has the skills to be a real fighter.
Dana White has said a lot of shit about Slice, talking about how he's pretty much garbage, but is giving him a chance to earn his way to MMA respect.
Season 10 will be coached by Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans (who have a bit of history), so this should be an awesome season, ratings wise.
Also, in some news coming out recently, EA Sports has decided that they want an MMA game, so they are making one, coming out sometime in 2010, which will most likely featue the top names not under UFC contract. This is pretty awesome news, as eventually both games will feature pretty much every fighter around. I'm hoping Fedor will be the big name that EA can get, and that they can match or exceed the UFC game.
Nothing like competetion to bring up the quality of a product.
