Almost Mid-Point Jays Stuff!!!11!!!

So, the Jays are 71 games into the season and are 1 game back of a playoff spot. Pretty nails.

With 10 games to go till the mid point of the season, I thought I would lay out some ideas for roster construction the rest of the way.

The current roster bothers me very much right now.

Kevin Millar is hitting terribly.

John McDonald is useless.

They already did 1 thing I was hoping for, and that is calling up Russ Adams. But it was for Inglett, when it should have been for the recently traded (in my dream world) Johnny Mac.

Randy Ruiz should be up for Millar. No doubt about it. Ruiz is a better hitter, period. Millar may bring intangibles, but Ruiz can actually hit.

And if Russ Adams can play SS even remotley competant, then McDonald can be cut loose and an actual majo league hiter can be called up, preferably Brett Harper, but most likely David Delucci.

And maybe Kyle Phillips can come up at some point and be a back-up catcher and corner infielder instead of Jose Bautista (who is hitting well, but just doesn't do enough for me personally).

As far as the pitching goes, there is not much to complain about due to injuries, but I have a big problem with Brad Mills getting called up.

Fabio Castro would have been a much better choice, as he actually pitched well enough in the minors to deserve it. Even David Purcey has pitched well enough to deserve another shot over Mills.

To put it nicely, Brad Mills is Jamie Moyer. Not Moyer when he was 24. Moyer, at 45. Mills throws about 86 MPH with a looping curve and scares the fuck out of me.

I have no problem with Cecil being in the majors, as his stuff can actually get guys out and miss some bats. The rotation is weakened at the moment with Halladay on the shelf, but Richmond, Romero, Cecil, and Tallet should be the other 4 in the rotation with Doc when he gets back.

Brandon League is ridiculously scary to watch and Dirk Hayhurst just isn't good enough to pitch in the major leagues, but until guys start coming back from injury these frightening arms will remain.

Oh well....I will look forward to the 81 game mark where I can double the stats and get the exact totals of the statistics that we will see.

Peace.
