UFC 97 Results

The fights not shown on PPV:

Marshall vs Magalhaes
This one went the distance, with Marshall pulling out the victory, unanimously.

Chonan vs Grant (Canadian)
Even though Chonan has a victory over Anderson Silva, he lost to the Canadian by split decision.

Bocek (Canadian) vs Bielkheden
Bocek got the win with a rear-naked choke at the end of the 1st round.

Loiseau (Canadian) vs Herman
Herman gets the decision victory over Loiseau.

MacDonald (Canadian) vs Quarry
Quarry stopped MacDonald with elbows in the middle of the 1st round.

Kang (Canadian) vs Foupa-Pokam
Kang gets the victory, by decision.

The Main PPV Fights:

Cantwell vs Cane
Cane won this by decision, by out-scoring Cantwell. A really good fight though. Cane had the stronger showing, although Cantwell has nothing to lower his head about. Great start to the PPV.

Kongo vs Handonk
Kongo dominated in the second with some vicious ground and pound.

Soszynski (Canadian) vs Stann
Soszynski had a great showing, getting a nice submission victory in the 1st round. He showed some big Canadian pride after the fight too. Well done.

Liddell vs Rua
Rua and Liddell were having a nice stand-up fight until Rua ended it with a big left near the end of the 1st round. Liddell could've fought his last ever fight in what is one the greatest MMA careers ever.

Stout (Canadian) vs Wiman
In the Fight Of The Night, Stout took the decision in a really close fight. The 1st round was very close, while Stout easily took the 2nd and Wiman the 3rd. I really enjoyed the fight, and hope it shows up on the fight of the year ballot.

Silva vs Leites
Silva took the decision easily, in what could go down as the fight to least live up to hype. Silva showed some great attacks at times, but Leites just refused to put on an entertaining fight, at times just going to his back and hoping Silva would fall into his trap. Leites looked like shit, but didn't take any damage of significance.

All in all, a good show, although the final fight put a bit of a damper on the card overall.
